How to Win Friends and Influence People
If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive.
Criticism is futile because it puts a man on the defensive, and usually makes him strive to justify himself.
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain — and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.
When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity.
You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.
Remember that a man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in the English language.
Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems.
There is only one way under high heaven to get the best of an argument — and that is to avoid it.

How to Stop Worrying and Start Living
By far the most vital lesson I have ever learned is the importance of what we think. If I knew what you think, I would know what you are. Our thoughts make us what we are.
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon — instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.
Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration, and resentment.
When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us; power over our sleep, our appetites, our blood-pressure, our health, and our happiness.
You and I could probably eliminate nine-tenths of our worries right now if we would cease our fretting long enough to discover whether, by the law of averages, there was any real justification for our worries.
Count your blessings — not your troubles!

Public Speaking and Influencing Men in Business
A well-prepared speech is already nine-tenths delivered.
Real preparation consists in digging something out of yourself, in assembling and arranging your own thoughts, in cherishing and nurturing your own convictions.
Begin with something interesting in your very first sentence. Not the second. Not the third. The first!
Remember that upon the depth of your desire will depend the swiftness of your progress.
